Hanger Bean Planter
Using an empty milk carton to create a beautiful hanging plant, not only can
train children to exercise their brain, but also teach them to recycle used
containers for protecting the environment.
Materials:
-
A used empty milk
carton -- a quart or half gallon carton
-
Scissors
-
Paint
-
Potting soil
-
Pole beans
-
Heavy string
Instructions:
Wash and dry the milk
carton thoroughly. With some help from your parents, use the scissors to cut
out windows on each side (right side and left side) of the milk carton. Leave
about three inches of the bottom of the milk carton. Paint and decorate your
milk carton. Put about two inches of potting soil in the bottom of the milk
carton. Plant several pole beans in the soil. Attach a heavy string on both
sides (right side and left side) of the milk carton. Ensure the string can
securely and evenly hold the right side and left side of the milk carton. Hang
the planter near a window. Add few drops of water daily. Watch the beans
sprout and climb out the windows!
